GRANTS have been awarded to community groups and organisations that support townspeople, at the recent Melksham Area Board meeting held last month.
Area Board grants are split into four funding streams; older and vulnerable adults, young people, community and councillor led initiatives.
Melksham’s Riverside Centre received an older and vulnerable adult grant of £480 for a food and community support programme. The centre requested £1,500 towards the overall cost of the project, which is £3,000, however, a reduction in the award was agreed after funding was secured by the Riverside Centre from other organisations.
A Young People Grant was given to the Equivalent Project Community Interest Company (CIC) which provides equine facilitated learning and development for those aged seven years old upwards, struggling with mental wellbeing, special educational needs, challenging behaviour, school refusal, trauma and self-harm.
The CIC was awarded £1,805.56 for a self-harm support programme.
Funding awards are reviewed at each Area Board business meeting and applications must be received four weeks before the meeting takes place.
The date of the next Melksham Area Board meeting is on Wednesday 6th March at 7pm.
