THIS year’s World Day of Prayer will be held locally at St. Barnabas Church in Beanacre on Friday 1st March at 10.30am.
The theme of the service is ‘bear with one another in love.’ “It has been put together by the Christian Women of Palestine who are calling us to connect with the land from where Jesus came, where he was born, ministered and died,” says a spokesperson for the event.
“Despite living in an area of the world where there is an ongoing conflict and the future is uncertain, the women of Palestine are sharing with love a reminder that they are there and they want to give hope to everyone.”
World Day of Prayer is celebrated in over 146 countries. “A great wave of prayer will travel around the world beginning in Samoa, with prayers being said in native languages before completing the journey in American Samoa some 38 hours later,” says the spokesperson.
“Although organised and led by women, this is essentially a day of prayer for everybody as we demonstrate our love and solidarity with our sisters and brothers in other countries. Everyone will receive a very warm welcome.”
