Pupils from Melksham Oak have been praised for their exam results this year, with Sixth Form students achieving success in their A-levels and vocational qualifications, and Year 11 pupils securing the school’s best GCSE results in years.
Associate Headteacher Abbie Clark praised the achievements across both year groups, describing them as a “true credit to the students’ hard work, positivity, dedication and resilience.”
Sixth form students collected their A-level and vocational qualification results on Thursday 14th August. Among the stand-out results were Euan Viveash, who achieved an A* in maths and As in physics and chemistry and will go on to study maths and statistics at Southampton University.
Tia Williamson gained a double award of Distinction*/Distinction in BTEC Musical Theatre, a B in history and an A in criminology, and will be studying acting at the highly reputable Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
Charlie Butter achieved an A in maths, a B in physics and a C in computer science and will be looking for an engineering degree apprenticeship.
Alex McLeod gained an A in psychology, a B in biology and a C in chemistry. Alex will now spend the year working and volunteering in hospitals before deciding on his next steps.
Freya Jefferies achieved an A* in psychology, an A in sociology and a B in English Literature and will go on to study psychology at the University of Bristol.
Chloe Burbidge achieved a B in art, a C in sociology and a Merit in creative digital media production. She will be studying sociology at Northampton University and will be the first in her family to go to university.
A week later, on Thursday 21st August, GCSE pupils also impressed, with more than 70% achieving a standard pass in both English and Maths – the school’s strongest results in these subjects for several years.
Among the standout achievers were Merel Van Eerten, who achieved seven grade 9s and three grade 8s, and Amelie Bezard, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, a grade 7 and a grade 5. Annie Holloway secured one grade 9, six grade 8s, one grade 7 and a grade 5, while Lily Somers achieved five grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 6s and a Distinction. Rose Tuimatanisaqa gained four grade 9s, two grade 8s and three grade 7s. Josh Hiatt achieved one grade 9, two grade 8s, three grade 7s and two Merits, and Harrison Day gained one grade 9, three grade 8s, two grade 6s and one grade 5, along with a Distinction. Daniel Lawrence achieved four grade 8s, four grade 6s and a Merit.

Associate Head, Abbie Clark, said, “What an amazing set of results. This was the year group that started their transition into secondary education amid the 2020 Covid lockdowns and they still managed to come out with the best results the school has seen in years.
“They have shown true resilience and determination and we are so proud of each and every one of them. We wish them all the best for their futures and know that they will go on and do amazing things.”
