St George’s Church of England School in Semington is celebrating after last year’s Year 6 cohort achieved a 100% pass rate in their SATs exams in reading, writing and maths – far above the national average.
According to the Department for Education, only 62% of pupils nationally reached the expected standard in all three subjects combined, with individual averages of 75% in reading, 74% in maths and 72% in writing.
Against this backdrop, St George’s says the 100% result in every subject is an extraordinary accomplishment.
Headteacher Emma Hembury said, “We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils. This result reflects their hard work, determination and resilience, as well as the tireless commitment and dedication of our teaching team. To achieve 100% across reading, writing and maths in SATs is something truly special and is a credit to the whole school community.”
The school is keen to share its success and welcomes prospective families with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Years 1 to 4 to see the school first-hand.
Opportunities to visit include an open morning on Friday 21st November from 9.30am to 12pm; and a stay and play session on Saturday 11th October from 9am to 11am for prospective new EYFS children starting in 2026.
