Residents of Shaw and Whitley recently held their biggest-ever community litter pick, collecting 15 kg of rubbish from the local area.
The community litter picks are held twice a year and are organised by the local Community Action Whitley and Shaw group. Residents wore high-vis jackets and used litter pickers to tidy the area.
Chair of Community Action Whitley and Shaw, Peter Richardson, said, “It was great to see so many people out to help. They collected all different types of stuff; there is a lot of litter at traffic lights and along the Corsham Road. Unfortunately, what people do is they might pick up a McDonald’s and then hurl the residue out of the window as they drive along.”
The next community litter pick will be held in spring; the date is yet to be confirmed.
