Antiques expert Paul Martin is hosting another free valuation day in Melksham on Wednesday 5th November from 10am to 3pm.
The event sees Paul Martin, known for presenting the BBC’s Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip, set up in ‘that meeting space’ in the Market Place for a day of valuing local peoples’ items and learning about their stories.
“A lot of people don’t know what they possess and getting things valued safeguards things for the next generation; it helps people come up with a value, so they don’t get ripped off,” said Paul. “It helps to keep things insured and in a good condition and how to hang onto them because they might go up in value. It brings history alive, and you do it in front of other people and you all swap stories.”
One of the organisers, Myles Pilling, said, “Have you an old item you have no idea of its value? Come and speak to Paul in a relaxed safe and secure environment of that meeting space. Cakes and drinks for sale while you wait.”
Paul, who lives in Beanacre, began his career as an antiques dealer 25 years ago with a shop on London’s Portobello Road. Alongside his TV work, he is also Head of Valuations at Henry Aldridge Auctioneers.
