A well-known community venue in Melksham is undergoing a revival, with an exciting programme of events kicking things off this month.
Spencer Sports and Social Club is offering a mix of live entertainment and social events which they hope will appeal to the whole community.
First up is a Rock and Roll Weekend on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May, followed by an ABBA tribute night on Saturday 23rd May and a family fun day on Saturday 11th July.
Regular events are also being organised including quiz nights, karaoke and live entertainment.
“The club is experiencing an exciting revival, bringing fresh energy, new entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere,” said committee member Tony Webb. “With a growing calendar of events and renewed enthusiasm, the club is quickly re-establishing itself as a lively social hub for residents and visitors alike.”
The club is open to both members and non-members, with membership offering benefits including discounted drinks, while a bowls club based at the venue is also seeking new participants.
A function hall with capacity for up to 180 people is available for hire, for weddings, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, corporate functions and community gatherings, catering for both large celebrations and more intimate events.
“Our exciting revival truly gets underway with a Rock and Roll Weekend on May 16th and 17th,” said Tony. “The nostalgic event will feature classic rock and roll live music, a 1950s-style hair stylist and vintage clothing for sale.
“The celebrations continue on 23rd May with the ABBA Tribute Night for an evening packed with classic hits, sing-along favourites, and a lively party atmosphere.
“Looking further ahead, the Family Fun Day on July 11th is set to bring the community together with activities and entertainment suitable for all ages, offering something for everyone to enjoy.”
Tickets for all events can be bought at the club and for more details, follow them on facebook or check out their website where there are also links to buy tickets.
“The revival is well underway – and this is only the beginning!” added Tony.
