Pupils at Bowerhill Primary School were given the chance to try a range of new sports when the school hosted its second annual sports festival recently.
The festival brought together local sports clubs and organisations to deliver a full day of taster sessions.
Headteacher Chris Light said, “Physical activity and games are so important for our children, not only from a health perspective but because there are so many life lessons that children learn through sport.
“However, sport is not always accessible to everyone and we work with local charity Game On to try and level the playing field when it comes to access.”

The school says one of the biggest barriers to children taking part in sport outside school is a lack of awareness about what activities are available and which sports they might enjoy.
“By creating a festival day, every child is able to try a wide range of sports that they may not otherwise be able to,” Chris added.
The event was supported by Melksham Rugby Club, Future of Football, Wiltshire Basketball Academy, Wiltshire School of Gymnastics, Tiger Martial Arts, Gracie Barra Melksham, Wiltshire Council Street Games – Us Girls, and Up and Under Sports.
