Pupils at a local school took part in a financial literacy workshop recently, aimed at improving their understanding of money matters.
The session at Bowerhill Primary School was led by Thomas Porter Wealth Management and designed to help Year 6 children develop their understanding of money management and financial decision-making. Pupils took part in a range of interactive games and activities throughout the day.
They learnt about interest rates, credit and debit cards, balance sheets and how to identify potential scams. The children were praised for their enthusiasm and engagement, embracing the challenges and demonstrating a keen interest in learning practical life skills.

The children will now put their skills to the test in an Enterprise Legacy Project, which challenges Year 6 pupils to develop and run their own fundraising initiatives with the aim of raising money to make improvements to the school.
Now in its fourth year, the Enterprise Legacy Project has proved a major success, with each Year 6 cohort raising more than £1,000 in profit. Previous projects have funded new playground equipment for lunchtime activities, a sensory cabin and playground markings.
Headteacher Chris Light said, “We are really looking forward to seeing what the children come up with this year.”
