Household waste and recycling collections in Wiltshire are now being delivered by a new provider.
Wiltshire Council has moved to a Local Authority Trading Company (LATC) model, with collections now carried out by Ubico, a company owned by local authorities which already provides environmental services across Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire.
The household waste and recycling collection service was previously provided by Hills Waste Solutions for the past eight years.
The council says residents will continue to receive the same collections as usual, with no changes to collection days, frequencies or crews.
Deputy Leader Cllr Mel Jacob said, “This change gives the council greater control and flexibility over how services are delivered, while maintaining a strong focus on providing reliable collections for residents and delivering value for money.”
She added, “Hills Waste Solutions provided Wiltshire’s household waste and recycling collection service from July 2018, and we would like to thank the company and its staff for their contribution over the past eight years, including the continuation of waste and recycling collections throughout the Covid pandemic, working with the council to successfully deliver improvements to kerbside recycling collections and maintaining high completion rates for scheduled collections.
“Residents will continue to receive the same waste and recycling collections as usual, and we’ve worked hard to ensure a smooth transition, including the transfer of experienced frontline staff who know Wiltshire’s communities and routes well.”
