There’s a busy month ahead at Melksham Cons Club with live music, a charity race night, over-55s afternoon disco and quiz night.
Things kick off this Saturday 7th November with a free evening of live music from the Mark Green Blues Band.
Formed six years ago, the popular Bradford-on-Avon five-piece band is led by harmonica and features two guitarists. Its set draws heavily on classic blues from the 1960s British blues boom, including songs from early Fleetwood Mac, The Yardbirds, John Mayall, The Rolling Stones and Queen.
Band leader Mark Green said, “We always include La Grange by ZZ Top because it always proves popular.
“For this visit, we’ll also be playing a few more rock songs to get everybody up and dancing.”
Mary Morrison, from Cons Club, said, “We’re delighted to welcome the Mark Green Blues Band back. Their mix of classic blues and rock always goes down well, and with free entry, it promises to be a great night for anyone who enjoys live music. Everyone is welcome.”
The following Saturday, 14th November, sees a Charity Race Night in memory of Keiren “Ned” Edney for Meningitis Now. There will be cash prizes and a raffle.
The club will then host another of its popular over-55s afternoon discos on Friday 20th November 1pm to 3pm, featuring music from the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
“Come and join us for an afternoon of great music, good company and dancing!” said Mary.
Entry is £2.50pp to include free coffee and tea.
Sunday 29th November sees a quiz night from 7:30pm offering a fun evening with cash prizes and a raffle. Entry is £3pp with a maximum of four people per team.
Non-members are very welcome to all events.
The club is at 17 Bank Street, Melksham. For more details, call 70288.
