THREE women from Melksham are appealing for support as they aim to raise as much as possible for Wish Upon a Star by walking 100km – twice!
Shelley Davis, Sue Georgiou and Claire Younger will take part in the London 2 Brighton Challenge in May before taking on the Race to the Stones 100km event in July.
They hope to complete each course in under 20 hours and have started preparing for the event in recent weeks with long walks around the local area with distances ranging from 14 to 27 miles.
Now, with some time still before the walks – and many training miles ahead – they are urging the local community to support them.
Shelley said, “We would like to invite as many people as possible to sponsor us and this fantastic charity. The training is quite time-consuming so we would to thank our wonderful families and especially the grandparents and husbands for helping with the kids to allow us to get the miles in. Also thank you to anyone that has already supported or donated to us, it is for a great cause and it means a lot.”
Visit www.justgiving.com/Shelley-Davis11 to donate or alternatively there is charity boxes for the challenge in Backhouse betting shop, Leisure Arcade, Upper Cut Clothing, The Grapes, the Pilot, Barge Inn and the Westbrook Inn.
