COMMUNITY groups for Bowerhill and Shaw were recently presented with certificates for their achievements in Hills Group CPRE Wiltshire Best Kept Village Competition 2015.
The competition saw 45 villages throughout the county tested for tidiness, cleanliness, presentation and village community spirit.
The competition organisers said, “The parish councils and their volunteers had clearly worked hard at achieving and encouragingly high standards and made the judges’ task that much more difficult.”
Bowerhill came first in the ‘Large Village’ category in the first round of the competition and 4th in the second county round of the competition. Shaw came 1st in the ‘Medium Village’ category in the first round of the competition and 2nd in the second county round of the competition.
Community Action for Whitley & Shaw (CAWS) received a cheque for £100 which the group will spend on improvements to the village, ready for this year’s competition.
