A YOUNG motocross rider got his year off to a flying start when he came third while representing Great Britain at a competition in Dubai last month.
Eight year-old Ashton Phillips, a pupil at Forest and Sandridge School, raced against other children from across the world in a competition in the United Arab Emirates in January.
Dad Richard said, “Watching Ashton succeed makes me really proud and he’s got a lot of people supporting him. He’s been riding since he was four and he loves it. I used to race, so he saw my bikes and trophies and wanted to have a go himself.
“He started early so he is quite far ahead of other children his age; he’s been racing for two years and is competing at a very high level for an eight year-old.
“He’s been invited back to compete in the Motocross GP with KTM, and will be racing in Portsmouth later this month. We’re hoping to head out to Texas this year, too – we have a lot of fun travelling.
“I’d like to give special thanks to Cas at City Fitness and Kalv Singh at Bad Boy Supplements for their sponsorship. We’d love to hear from any other local businesses interested in supporting Ashton.”
