Rehearsals are well under way for Melksham Music and Drama’s next production – Flint Street Nativity, a funny play by Tim Firth, the writer behind other hit shows such as Calendar Girls and Kinky Boots.
“We are having the best time finding our inner child!” says the group. “Come and join us for an evening of fun and lots of laughs. This nativity is like nothing you’ve seen before! Set in a primary school, the children are putting on their nativity for their parents but things only go from bad to worse.
“The story goes… Mizzis Horrocks’ class of seven year olds is about to perform their nativity play at Flint Street Junior School for the proud mums and dads – and the occasional social worker. Squabbles arise when Gabriel wants to play Mary, the Star grumbles he’s not a proper star like they have at NASA, Herod won’t stop waving to his mum and dad and the subversive Innkeeper is determined to liven up the traditional script. And then the stick insect escapes…
“The children are played by adults, who later play their parents!”
Performance dates are 26 & 27 August and 2 & 3 September, evening performances, at the Rachel Fowler Centre, ticket prices £9 & £7 concessions. Tickets are now available from TIC Melksham in Church Street and Ticketmaster. Please note that this is a show with adult content so parental guidance is recommended.
