The recent expansion of housing development in the Melksham area has increased the population to around 30,000 residents.
This exceeds the 2026 housing target used by Wiltshire Council and other public sector bodies to plan and deliver facilities and services.
Now, an informal group of Melksham residents is trying to find out what are the key priorities for local people living or working in the area.
The Vision4Melksham project has been prompted by news that Wiltshire Council has launched a forward review of its strategic policies to the year 2036.
Initially, the project is conducting an online survey asking the views of local people on a series of statements covering employment and retail, housing, future facilities for Melksham, and traffic management.
Each statement has click boxes to establish views and space for any additional comments. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. It is completely anonymous and does not ask for any details that can identify people taking part.
The aim of the survey is to produce an analysed report that can be shared with residents, elected councillors and local service decision-makers.
