A WOMAN has raised £300 for charity after abseiling from the Newport Transporter Bridge in South Wales.
Sarah Surry, who works for Leekes in Melksham, took part in the ‘Big Drop’ earlier this month, abseiling 178ft (54m) for charity Action on Hearing Loss (RNID).
“I was incredibly nervous when we arrived at the transporter bridge, not quite believing how tall it was!’ said Sarah.
“The climb up to the level was exhausting, but by that time I reached the top, I really wanted to just get on with it!
“Once on the way down I thoroughly enjoyed the view and had a huge sense of achievement.
“The reason behind the abseil is I was asked by a friend who is totally deaf in one ear and who works in the hearing aid sector. She wanted to help out a smaller charity that doesn’t get a lot of publicity and is obviously close to her heart.
“I would like to thank my friends, family and all my work colleagues who have supported me and their very kind donations, raising £300.”
