THE AGM of the Friends of St. Michael and All Angels Church is to be held on Wednesday 25th March at 6.30pm.
The group reports, “The Parish Church of St. Michael and All Angels is Melksham’s oldest building and has served the community for centuries; weddings, christenings and funerals have all been held here.
“Most long term residents of Melksham have had cause to use the church either as a family celebration or attended the funeral of somebody they held dear or with respect.
“The building, as most older buildings, is in constant need of remedial work. To help with this burden The Friends of St Michaels was formed, many years ago. The aim of the group was to raise funds for the care and repair of the fabric of the church. Over the years they have either helped, or fully funded, new lighting, the path and gate to Melksham House, the new west door, helped with the organ repairs and also the heating, as well as many smaller items like repair to windows due to vandalism or old age.
“Everybody is welcome to the AGM; there is a small annual membership fee for the Friends, so if people wish to join they will be welcome and know that they, in some small way, are helping to maintain this beautiful building.”
