ART work created by Melksham’s well-known artist and photographer, Andy York, is on display in Antico Caffe, in their newly opened premises in the Littlebrook Centre.
Andy York Photography and framing business was formerly based in the Littlebrook Centre but closed earlier this year when owners, Andy and Christine, retired after 25 years in the town. Now the shop has been taken over by Antico, moving from another unit in the Littlebrook Centre.
Andy said, “When Christine and I decided to retire and close our photography and framing shop, we still wanted to sell my artwork and so we opened an online shop with Esty but being able to sell in town at Antico where people can view it on the walls is fantastic.”
Recently, Andy and Christine popped into Antico Caffe to see the new use of space. Christine said, “We knew Alex from Antico Caffe was going to move into our old premises to open a larger cafe and so we were watching the progression with interest. When the café opened its doors, a few weeks ago, we dropped in to see the transformation.
“Whilst chatting with Alex he kindly offered the wall space for Andy to display his artwork. It was ideal for both of us.”
The new cafe serves coffee, cake and lunches and owner, Alex, may also open in the evenings for musical nights.
Reflecting on their time in the premises, Christine said, “Andy and I cannot get over the difference, our old shop has gone but thanks to Alex we will be able to keep a connection and enjoy still having a chat with our old customers and friends.”
