LOCAL antiques dealer, Alan Jaffray, was sent off in style this week atop a vintage 1950s flatbed truck.
The founder of A&I Jaffray Antiques, one of Melksham’s oldest businesses, died on 1st April at the age of 93. His funeral was held on Tuesday 26th April, with the procession beginning in the Market Place outside the antiques dealership.
Before the procession, his coffin was transported from a hearse to on top of a 1950s Foden flatbed truck – one of the last of its kind in the world – with an array of antiques, a nod to the familiar sight of Alan loading his van with antiques in the Market Place.
He leaves his wife Iris, daughter Sue and grandchildren Mike and Matt.
