ANTIQUES Roadshow star David Battie visited Melksham last week to give a talk in front of a packed Assembly Hall.
The Oriental porcelain specialist has been a feature of the long running BBC television show Antiques Roadshow having appeared in every series since its creation in 1977.
As well as his appearances on television he has also travelled the country for many years giving talks. His Melksham visit was his penultimate appearance as a guest speaker and an audience of over 300 turned up for his talk on porcelain.
The talk was arranged by the North Wiltshire Decorative and Fine Arts Society who had David appear as part of their monthly meet.
Speaking to the Melksham News David Battie said, “It is great to be in Melksham and to share my knowledge with people who want to be here.
“Everyone has made an effort for the talk and they have an interest and enthusiasm for porcelain, which is my favourite subject, so it is always a pleasure.
“The Melksham talk is in fact my penultimate appearance of this kind as it takes its toll travelling the country.”
The North Wiltshire Decorative and Fine Arts Society meet on the first Wednesday of every month at Melksham Assembly Hall. They currently have over 300 members although new members are welcome.
