POLICE officers investigating the shooting of a number of wild birds in Melksham are appealing for witnesses.
The police report, “Members of the public walking along Bowerhill Lane, Melksham, have reported finding wild birds that have been shot. The most recent was on 4th February when a pigeon was found on the ground adjacent to a large tree on the farm side of the road.
“In past months, a number of pigeons, one magpie and one sparrowhawk have been found shot in the same location. It is an offence to intentionally kill, injure or take a wild bird.”
