To all you budding gardeners out there, applications for Melksham in Bloom are now available. Judging will take place on 8th July.
To enter your garden, pick up an entry form from Melksham Town Hall or the tourist information centre; forms are also available to download from Melksham Town Council’s website: www.melkshamtown.co.uk
The competition is being sponsored this year by Leekes and Whitehall Garden Centre, which the organisers say is very much appreciated.
Categories are as follows:
Residential Section: Best Front Garden; Best Rear Garden; Best Single Tub Container; Best Single Hanging Basket; Best Courtyard Area; Best Water Feature. Commercial: Best Decorated Site; Best Single Hanging Basket/Planter/Trough (Independent Trader); Best Window Display using Flowers/Plants (artificial or real); Best Single Hanging Basket/Planter/Trough (Licensed Premises)
Schools/Pre Schools: Best Horticultural Display (Vegetable or floral); Best Garden Residential Care Homes: Best Decorated Site; Best Hanging Basket/Trough/Planter
Other classes include: Best Street and Best Allotment.
This year there is a discretionary award for the Best Gold Floral Display (in-line with the Royal Horticultural Society celebrating its 50th anniversary).
A presentation ceremony for the winners and runners up will take place at Melksham Gardeners’ Society’s Flower & Produce Show on Sunday 7th September at Melksham Assembly Hall.
