LOCAL art group, ‘Nature and Art Friends’, has shown their support for Ukraine with a blue and yellow inspired display in a shop window on Church Street.
Their work, which features messages of support for Ukraine, can be viewed in the window of what was the Mind charity shop.
Members of the group told Melksham News, “There has been so much in the news about the war in Ukraine, and the group has been feeling lots of emotions about it – and this is one way we thought we could do something and show our support for Ukraine.
“And with refugees arriving in Melksham, it’s also something that we hope will make them feel welcome.”
The ‘Nature and Art Friends’ group meets weekly at ‘that meeting space’ (formerly the ArtHouse Café) in the Market Place. It originally launched as a four-week course, but members, who gained confidence and wellbeing from their time with the group, decided to continue meeting.
The group says they have found great enjoyment in exploring nature and expressing it through different artistic media.
The group meets every Thursday, 1.30pm to 3pm – all abilities (or none!) welcome. If you’d like more information call 07389 866714.
