MELKSHAM Assembly Hall is set to host another series of top-quality live events in the coming months.
As well as the big names which have already been announced such as top television comedian Jimmy Tarbuck and Cornish comedian Jethro, the Assembly Hall has confirmed more top-quality acts have been added to the list for 2016.
Rich Hall, The Searchers, Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers, Russell Kane and a Roy Orbison and The Traveling Wilburys Tribute Show are all amongst the line up.
There will also be live broadcasts of Andre Rieu from Maastricht and the World Cup 66 celebration from Wembley Stadium on the Hall’s big screen.
Roy Orbison and The Traveling Wilburys Tribute Show stops off in Melksham on 3rd September.
This extremely popular performer is now known for his polished and professional style on stage and excellent rapport with the audience and his vocal likeness to the legendary Roy Orbison is quite uncanny.
UK favourite Paul Hopkins has been performing for over 16 years with his fantastic tribute to The “Big O”. Appearing at some of the greatest theatres in the country including The London Palladium, Paul has also toured worldwide in the USA, the Middle East and Scandinavia, to name but a few.
On 27th October, American comedian, writer and musician, Rich Hall, brings his 3:10 to Humour tour to Melksham. After winning a Perrier Comedy Award in 2000, using the character of Tennesseean country musician Otis Lee Crenshaw, Hall became popular in the United Kingdom, regularly appearing on QI and similar panel shows.
He has created and starred in several series for the BBC, including comedies with Mike Wilmot, and documentaries often concerning cinema of the United States. Hall has also maintained a successful stand-up comedy career, as both Crenshaw and himself.
Dig out your tartan flares for an evening with Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers on 24th November, performing all the original hits including Bye Bye Baby, Shang-a-Lang, Remember, All Of Me, Summerlove Sensation, Give A Little Love, plus many more.
The current Bay City Rollers bring a new energy to all the classic hits and will have you dancing in the aisles.
Other acts coming up later this year include The Searchers, Pin-Up Bowie tribute act and Russell Kane.
Tim Cross, hospitality and venues manager at the Assembly Hall said, “I’m really excited that The Assembly Hall is continuing to punch well above its weight and attract some great names to Melksham.
“Not only have we got plenty of household names and former number one artistes, but we’re also giving new comedy talent the chance to unleash their skills on the West Country.
“On top of that, we’ve got some excellent live broadcasts of Andre Rieu from Maastricht and the World Cup 66 celebration from Wembley Stadium. Exciting times indeed.”
