THE Association of Speakers Clubs is opening a new club in Melksham.
The inaugural meeting will be held on Tuesday, 17th September at 7.30pm at the Rachel Fowler Centre, Market Place, Melksham. The club will then meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
The purpose of the Association of Speakers Clubs is to help build confidence and improve communication skills in everyday life, as well as improving listening and observation skills.
The association says, “We create a friendly and happy atmosphere in which to learn and it is amazing how quickly even the most nervous and shy people can overcome their nerves and eliminate shyness in a few months. They also learn how to complain in a logical manner without losing one’s temper and find it much easier to make new friends and follow new interests.
“Many join us to improve their presentation skills at work, or because they have been made a president of an organisation and they have to chair meetings and go to different functions and meet strangers. We show them how to present themselves and also how to start conversations so that they can be a good host or an excellent guest. We concentrate on the use of the voice and those who have a stammer have found this most helpful in improving their daily speaking. Some join us because they have been asked to give a speech at a wedding or social function or because they wish to improve their interview skills when applying for a job. Whatever the reason, everyone who plays an active roll in the clubs reports that their overall life skills have improved and they feel happier about themselves and what they are doing. Whatever your reason for improving your confidence and communication skills, please come along and find out more about our association – everyone is welcome. If you wish to learn more about the association, there is a website on the internet. If you would like to talk about the club and its aims please contact Sheila on 07726537452.”
