MELKSHAM and District Flower Arrangement Society met last month and saw an demonstration of special arrangements and autumn colour.
Rosalyn Clarke reports, “The president, Joyce Swanson, welcomed everyone to the meeting and congratulated members who had done the practice class with their contemporary arrangements of roses, tutored by Christine Oughton.
“Joyce then introduced Sue Hooper with her demonstration ‘A Palate of Colour’. Sue then proceeded to use a variety of plant material and colours, using a basket she used red gerbera, purple lsyianthus, ferns, ivy and completed it with fountain grass, making a very vivid display.
“From this she moved to a glass and metal container which white chiffon had been inserted into and then produced an arrangement with red Naomi roses, red germini and white crystal blush cala lilies.
“Using a beautiful piece of driftwood Sue then used a seedhead of a huge alium, Chinese lanterns, and black teasel swished with gold to give us a real autumn colouring.
“This was quickly followed by a green and purple vertical arrangement and a couple of ‘cocktail glasses’ filled with yellow roses and gerberas and lime twigs. Her finale was a pedestal of white and roses, pink spray chrysanths sat in a circle of eucalyptus.”
The next meeting will be the Annual General Meeting followed by an afternoon demonstration. For more details contact Rosalyn Clarke 01225 705007.
