MELKSHAM’S Cancer Research group has raised £1,284.60 following a recent autumn party night held at Shaw Hotel.
The event included a photo service by Mark and Karen Giles from M&G Photography which allowed guests to dress up in props provided and have their photographs taken. These photos were then sold, providing a boost to the fundraising amount.
Chair of the Melksham branch for the charity Marie Bucknell-Smith said, ”It was a was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone. Including two personal donations totalling £150, the evening raised a fantastic £1,284. The feedback we’ve received is that people seemed to have had a really good evening and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone that came along to support us.
“Also a thank you to the local businesses in Melksham who generously provided raffle prizes and to whom we are really appreciative. They are all so amazing!
“A special thanks also goes to Marie from CM3 shop in Melksham who personally paid for the helium in our balloons and the weights. Her generosity was really touching.”
The amount raised from the autumn party is almost equivalent the cost of one patient on a clinical trial aiming to improve recovery for bowel cancer patients after surgery.
