It has been a great achievement to have some of our club members qualifying to play against some of the country’s top players at Leamington Spa, reports Avon Bowls Club.
“Tom Newman played well in the men’s Junior Singles, winning the quarter final 21/11against Hereford and the semi-final 21/14 against Middlesex. He sadly lost in the final 21/11 to Jason Avery from Kent.
“Georgina Newman and Joanna Hicks got through to the last 32 in the under 25s Pairs, but lost to Northamptonshire 16/13. Emma Maslin won her first game in the Ladies Two Wood 21/18 but was knocked out of the contest in the second round. The Amy Rose squad are preparing themselves for their match at Leamington and we wish them all the very best.
“Avon Bowls Club offers excellent opportunities for everyone to enjoy the sport, it caters for ladies and men, young and old and is ready to welcome new members throughout the season. Fully qualified Club Coaches are ready to offer training and advice to all of us, including existing members but especially for newcomers, to ensure that they get the best possible introduction to the game.
“The Avon Bowls Club is situated in the grounds of Melksham House. Access to the grounds is just off the Town Market Place.”
