Since the autumn the Melksham School of Ballet, Tap & Modern has been saving towards a new dance floor.
Mother and daughter team, Anne Barrett and Jayne Green who run the dance school, have been wanting a new dance floor since moving into their studio next to the vets on Church Lane in Melksham.
To their surprise the dance school received an anonymous donation of £1,000 towards the new dance floor. Together with the money raised at the autumn show from a raffle and programme sales, Jayne and Anne bought a new Harlequin dance floor.
Anne said, “The floor is wonderful to dance on. It makes such a difference, it’s beneficial to everyone here.
“Girls who dance on point shoes need a floor that’s non-slip and this floor is great for tap dancing and modern too – it’s good all round!
“We are delighted and so appreciative to the anonymous donor who made this possible, and wanted to show off the new floor in case he or she reads this – thank you!”
The school was established almost 25 years ago and has continued to flourish and grow. Classes in ballet, tap and modern are offered to children and adults of all ages.
