TICKETS are selling fast for the Big Band Concert at Melksham Assembly Hall and it is sure to be a fantastic night of live music and entertainment.
The popular event which has been running for several decades has entertained hundreds of people and raised thousands of pounds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Dennis said, “Tickets are selling well and people are already looking forward to it. It’s a fantastic evening of music and I’d love it to be a sell-out show, it would make my day.
“We have a brilliant line up of quality musicians including Matthew Ford, who is probably the best big band singer around. He’s performed with the BBC and RTE orchestras as well as the BBC Big Band. He is absolutely fantastic.
“He will also be bringing his 11 year-old daughter with him who is fabulous. Mike Smith said she is sure to bring the house down!
“And then of course, Mike Smith and his big band are brilliant and play everything from Frank Sinatra and Abba to Whitney Houston and The Beatles. The drummer is Mike Smith’s son and he has a wealth of experience. He has played with Catherine Jenkins and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
“If you’ve been before you know what to expect but if you haven’t, then I would hugely recommend it. It’s a great night of music and dancing for everyone. The atmosphere is always great and I hear people talking about how much they enjoyed the evening for weeks after.
“Plus all the money from the evening goes to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Over the years we’ve raised thousands of pounds for them, they do a tremendous job, so it’s important to support them.
“I love big band music and always have. The Mike Smith Big Band is one of the best around, so it’s a real treat for Melksham to have them visit.”
The concert will take place on 16th April at Melksham Assembly Hall, 8pm-late. Tickets cost £17/£18 (£18 for the front few rows). Call Dennis for more information and tickets on 01225 754 337 or the Assembly Hall on 01225 709887.
