The family and friends of a local woman who died from cancer are continuing their fundraising efforts in her memory, with their latest event set to take place this month in aid of the Royal United Hospital’s cancer services.
A charity bingo afternoon will be held on Sunday 13th April at Melksham Liberal Club, in memory of Emma Rodger, who died from cancer in April 2022.
Emma was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, and her family and friends launched the Emma Rodger Tribute Fund to raise money for the cancer services at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, which supported her throughout her illness.
Since then, the group has raised £17,500 in Emma’s memory through a series of events, including family fun days, Brave the Shave, bingo, sponsored swims, fundraising at the Melksham Food and River Festival, Christmas fairs and wreath-making.
Recognising their dedication, the hospital presented them with a special award at the end of last year.
Their latest fundraiser will be a fun afternoon of bingo this Sunday. Doors open at 2pm, with the game starting at 3pm. Cash and chocolate prizes will be up for grabs.
It will cost £12 to participate, plus £2 per bingo card for additional games at the start and end of the event.
Lisa Caine, Emma’s sister, said, “There is no need to contact anyone—just turn up at Melksham Liberal Club, who are very kindly hosting us free of charge.”
