MELKSHAM Assembly Hall is set to show more blockbuster films on its very own big screen.
The next cinema screenings at Assembly Hall are: Friday 5th September, 7.30pm, Jersey Boys (15). Saturday 6th September, 10.30am, House of Magic (U). Friday 12th September, 7.30pm, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed The Window And Disappeared (15) and Saturday 27th September, 10.30am, The Nut Job (U).
For all showings tickets at 10.00am are £3 for under 15s and £4 for adults. All tickets from 5.00pm are £6 each. Doors open 30 minutes before the show and there is a licensed bar, tea and coffees.
Synopsis:
Jersey Boys (15): Jersey Boys is a biography of the Four Seasons-the rise, the tough times and personal clashes, and the ultimate triumph of a group of friends whose music became symbolic of a generation. Jersey Boys gets to the heart of the relationships at the center of the group. In addition to following the quartet’s coming of age as performers, the core of the show is how an allegiance to a code of honor learned in the streets of their native New Jersey got them through a multitude of challenges: gambling debts, Mafia threats and family disasters.
House of Magic (U): Thunder, an abandoned young cat seeking shelter from a storm, stumbles into the strangest house imaginable, owned by an old magician and inhabited by a dazzling array of automatons and gizmos. Not everyone welcomes the new addition to the troupe as Jack Rabbit and Maggie Mouse plot to evict Thunder. The situation gets worse when the magician lands in hospital and his scheming nephew sees his chance to cash in by selling the mansion.
The 100 year-old-man who climbed the window and disappeared (15): Based on the internationally best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson, the unlikely story of a 100-year-old man who decides it’s not too late to start over. For most people it would be the adventure of a lifetime, but Allan Karlsson’s unexpected journey is not his first. For a century he’s made the world uncertain, and now he is on the loose again.
The Nut Job (U): In a city park, Surly the Squirrel has finally gone too far with his latest caper leading to the animal community’s winter food cache being destroyed. Now exiled, Surly and his rat buddy’s, Buddy, collective nightmare on the streets ends when they discover a nut store to raid. With no other options, she arranges a deal to help in Surly’s heist for the colony, even while Surly fully intends to betray it. However, there is more going on with the nut store being a front for bank robbers while Raccoon has his own agenda to ensure his own power.
