THE Melksham Monday movies coming up at the Assembly Hall are two blockbuster films, Top Gun: Maverick and Captain Phillips.
After 30 years, Maverick is still pushing the envelope as a top naval aviator, but must confront ghosts of his past when he leads Top Gun’s elite graduates on a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to fly it. The film stars Tom Cruise in the title role and is showing on the 4th September.
Captain Phillips is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years.
Directed by Paul Greengrass, the film stars Tom Hanks, Barkhad Adbi and Arkhad Abdirahman and is on at the Assembly Hall on Monday 18th September.
Doors for both films open at 1.30pm and the films start at 2pm. There is a break for tea or coffee and a chance to catch up with friends, before finishing around 4pm.
Admission is by donation, with a suggestion of £4. All welcome.
