A Melksham charity shop is inviting people to discover new authors and adventures in advance of World Book Day.
The Barnardo’s store on Verbena Court is highlighting its donated titles to coincide with the worldwide celebration which takes place in the UK next Thursday March 7th.
The team has restocked the shelves with hundreds of hardbacks and paperbacks and are currently offering special discounts on children’s books.
Profits will support the charity’s work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across the country.
Barnardo’s manager Helen West said, “Thanks to the generous support of the local community, we always have a good collection of pre-loved books – but we’ve saved some of our best titles to coincide with this major celebration.
“Offers currently include three children’s books for just £1, and we’ve picked out some of the most popular authors for adults too.
“We’ve got lots of titles from James Patterson, Lee Child, John Grisham and Chris Ryan, as well as titles from Dan Brown, Ross Kemp and Bernard Cornwell.
“There are also autobiographies from Jo Brand, Julie Walters, Sir Alex Ferguson, Martin Kemp and John Bishop, among many others.
“There’s something for everyone!”
Other current offers include three CDs for just £1 (new goods excluded), and refurbished CDs and DVDs available at just £1.99 each, or three for £4.99.
Barnardo’s also has a wide range of gifts from retail partners including new handbags, hats, scarves, gloves, slippers, belts, umbrellas and greetings cards.
The Barnardo’s store, behind the Water Meadow restaurant, is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and on Sundays from 10am-4pm.
The team always welcome donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, CDs, DVDs, bric-a-brac and accessories, as well as offers of help from potential volunteers.
