A PICNIC bench at Bowerhill picnic area that was vandalised in June, has been made into a wheelchair friendly space.
Chairman of the Bowerhill Residents Action Group, Mike Mills discovered the damaged picnic bench in June. Since then the broken wooden seat has been removed so a wheelchair can fit underneath the bench. One of the wooden surrounds has also been removed for easy access.
Mike said, “We were very disappointed to find the broken bench, especially as it was the second time. But one of our members suggested making it suitable for wheelchairs instead of throwing it away and we all thought it was a fantastic idea. It’s making good out of a bad situation.”
