BOWERHILL Primary School pre-school class is celebrating as they now have a new classroom to learn and develop in.
A new mobile unit has been built and refurbished on the existing site, next to the pedestrian entrance to the school. It has been specifically adapted for smaller children of pre-school age and has its own outdoor space. The move has been celebrated by staff and children who will now enjoy facilities suitable for the children.
In previous school years, the pre-school group used a classroom in the main school which wasn’t adapted to the needs of children as it was geared up for older children. Then at the start of this school year the pre-school group was forced to use the neighbouring Bowerhill Village Hall and was expected to be there until October. However, P K Contactors’ speedy work has ensured they could move in early and they had their first class in the new classroom on Monday 8th September.
Karen Parkin from Bowerhill School said, “It is fantastic that we can make use of the new classroom so soon and the children will enjoy the benefits. The previous set-up was not ideal, but now they have everything geared towards their needs and I am sure they will enjoy it.
“Everybody has worked really hard to make it possible and it means more children can benefit from the pre-school. To keep it on the main school site is a massive bonus for us. It means the pre-school class remain part of the school and it allows for a smoother transition from pre-school to the main school.
“I would like to thank Mr Matthews, the headteacher, for his hard work and to all the committee for their hard work in making is possible. We have been thankful for the generous help from local businesses too as Whitehall has donated vouchers to help us improve the new classroom and play area.”
Headteacher Andrew Matthews said, “It is great to have the site available and ahead of time. I would like to say how great P K Contractors have been and as a result the children have only had to be housed in the village hall for four days in total.
“The unit was sourced by Wiltshire Council as it was in use elsewhere, so we are grateful for that and we are sure the children and staff will enjoy their new classroom.”
