YEAR 6 pupils at Bowerhill Primary School were given a warm send-off recently as they took part in the school’s traditional leavers’ walk, marking their final days before moving on to secondary school.
The pupils were cheered on by teachers, staff and fellow students as they walked through the school. At the end of the walk, they were greeted by their proud parents.
The school’s headteacher Chris Light said, “This was an emotional end that capped off a wonderful year for them which included excellent SATs results, continuing our trend of being above the national average, and a fantastic year of fun enrichment, including a trip to the Houses of Parliament, a residential in the Welsh Brecon Beacons, and a visit to the theatre. They also put on an incredible craft fair as part of their enterprise legacy project, raising money which they have put towards playground improvements.
“They are a special group of children who are ready for their next stage. As we head into the summer holidays, we are already looking forward to welcoming our new starters in September and prospective new starters through our open mornings as we head into the next academic year.”
