MELKSHAM’S Brad Scott kept his British bareknuckle boxing championship with a punch-perfect performance in London.
The 34-year-old put his belt on the line against Martyn Grainger in a clash of well-schooled fight veterans. Scott has competed in the UFC, while Grainger had a hard career in the pro gloved ring.
Scott has been out of action since a blood-soaked draw with Kevin Greenwood last July and says he upped his training after that.
He said: “Last time I trained six times, this time it was probably 60 times. I felt sharp, but he was a tough cookie. I was blessed to catch him early.”
The punch that caught Grainger was Scott’s jab. He out jabbed Grainger in the first round, opening a cut under his right eye.
Scott went on to dominate the second as well. Grainger felt his body punches and decided not to come out for the third.
Scott afterwards called for a fight for the world cruiserweight championship.
