The speakers in November were Margaret and John Bowman who act as volunteers for the Enham Trust, a charity which enables disabled people to live as independently as possible.
The Trust was established in 1919 in the village of Enham, near Andover, initially to support disabled veterans from the First World War. It has since grown to provide 24 hour care in specially designed bungalow homes so that disabled people of all ages can live the life they choose.
The care teams provide personal care, financial management and welfare support as well as help with everyday tasks such as shopping and attending activities. The excellent work of this charity in providing help for many disabled people is to be commended.
Members attended The Annual Wiltshire Federation of Women’s Institute Council Meeting in Salisbury and thoroughly enjoyed their day which included a presentation by Michael Portillo and entertainment by The Warminster Military Wives Choir.
The next meeting will be held at Shaw Village Hall on Monday 14th December at 7.30pm when the Christmas festivities will be held. Visitors always welcome.
