MELKSHAM Community Meals is preparing to make its return next month at the Assembly Hall – and they need your help!
The service, which offers a place for people to meet and socialise, is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks.
The organisation’s chair, Sue Mortimer said, “We want to have enough volunteers to cover should anybody have to suddenly isolate. We have two great cooks, Elvy Schofield and Sue Hutchinson, on the payroll and Kerry, one of our capable volunteers who is our back up cook if needed. So, we don’t need any volunteer cooks. What we do need are people to help with veg prep, laying the tables, taking the orders or helping with the washing up.
“I realize a lot of people are busy on Sundays but not everyone – if you find yourself with time on your hands on Sundays and have a couple of hours to spare and would like to find out more, ring or text me on 07719 935 883.”
After being closed for 18 months because of the pandemic, Melksham Community Meals is reopening on the following days at the Assembly Hall: Sunday 3rd October, Sunday 31st October, and Sunday 5th December for Sunday lunch 12pm – 2pm.
Bookings for Sunday 3rd October can be made by ringing or texting Sue Mortimer on 07719 935 883.
Sue says, “Please book early so we know how many to welcome back. The team can’t wait to see you all! We are still looking for new premises for Wednesday and Friday sessions. If we get enough people on Sundays, I am hopeful we can get back to a few more regular sessions in the Assembly Hall in the new year.”
