MELKSHAM Seniors are enjoying getting back to normal with their regular meet-ups – but they need your help!
After the successful return of their monthly film club in July, the Seniors are now hoping to reintroduce its Thursday social group at the Riverside Club next month. To support the reopening of the Thursday group, the Seniors are appealing for volunteers to help organise the group.
“It has been more difficult to restart the Thursday group at the Riverside Club, due to ill health and the deaths of some stalwarts,” explains Terri Welch from Melksham Seniors. “But there are plans to start again in September. The times have changed, now 2-4pm in the afternoon and not every week. We will be meeting on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
“But this is a trial, if there is the will, further sessions might be put on. But this will depend on help. So, we look forward to seeing you again on Thursday 9th and 23rd of September.”
But it’s business as usual for its film club, which meets on the third Monday of the month.
“We enjoyed a film in July, on ‘Freedom day’, and another one this week. The films will be held at the Assembly Hall every third Monday until December, doors open at 1.30pm and all are welcome.”
The next film club is Monday 16th September, where visitors can enjoy a screening of the 2013 British comedy, The Love Punch, starring Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson.
