Care home celebrates Good CQC rating

The team at Blenheim House care home in Melksham are celebrating after being awarded a Good rating following a recent CQC inspection.

Blenheim House staff, residents and their families and friends say they are over the moon with their new rating, following an unannounced CQC inspection on 4th and 5th November 2019.

The care home report, “The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are an independent regulator of health and social care in England, and asses care homes based on health and safety standards. Over the two days, inspectors observed a great many staff interactions with residents, as well as praising the changes that have been made in the home since the previous inspection.”

According to the report, Blenheim House is caring and well led with residents supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care. 

The care home says, “During their visit the inspectors saw many examples of caring interactions between the staff and residents. Whilst at the home the inspectors spoke with several people, one of whom said “We are definitely treated with dignity and respect.” With another remarking “It is like the carers are mum’s best friends, she is very happy.”

“The report then goes on to explain how the staff at Blenheim House support people to live healthy and fulfilled lives, and that the residents have the maximum choices possible and feel in control of their lives with support from the staff.

“The inspectors also noted that staff ensure the residents are well treated, and supported people to express themselves. They complimented the home in its efforts to reduce social isolation by supporting the residents in following their interests and to take part in activities that are socially and culturally relevant to them. They then go on to say the wide range of activities on offer is enhanced by listening to feedback from residents and incorporating their individual likes and wishes.”
