STAFF and residents at a care home in Melksham visited Longleat Safari Park on Friday 6th October.
Blenheim House, which is part of the Berkley Care Group, celebrated resident Irene Blenfield’s 94th birthday with a trip to Longleat Safari Park. Irene was joined by her close friends Frances and Shirley, who share her passion for animals.
The day included various activities including a ride on the Longleat train, a walk among the meerkats, a boat ride to observe hippos, monkeys and gorillas and the unforgettable experience of feeding the sea lions. A lunch break allowed the group to relax and reminisce about their favourite moments.
Following lunch, the residents visited Emma’s Pantry to learn about the estate’s history before embarking on a mini-bus tour of the safari park, where they encountered a variety of wildlife in their natural habitats.
The staff at Blenheim House expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to make Irene’s birthday celebration special and thanked Longleat Safari Park for providing an enriching experience for their residents.
Commenting on the festivities, Blenheim House’s activities coordinator, Chris Preston, said, “I am thrilled to have organised this special outing to Longleat Safari Park for Irene Blenfield’s 94th birthday. Our primary goal is to provide our residents with enriching experiences and today’s visit was a perfect example of that.
“Seeing the smiles on Irene’s face and the faces of her friends as they enjoyed the park’s attractions was incredibly heartwarming. It’s a testament to the power of shared experiences and the joy it brings to our residents.
“We believe in celebrating life at every age and Irene’s birthday demonstrates our commitment to ensuring our residents continue to make cherished memories. We are thankful to Longleat Safari Park for their hospitality and for helping us create a day full of happiness.”
