MELKSHAM Carnival has become the latest event of 2021 to be cancelled due to ongoing Covid restrictions.
The carnival was scheduled to take place in July. Instead, the carnival’s committee has decided to focus on organising festivities for 2022.
Meanwhile, to help plug the hole in the town’s event calendar and to spread some carnival joy and positivity during lockdown, the committee is asking the community to share their memories of past carnivals.
The carnival’s committee said, “We have come to a heartbreaking decision, to cancel Melksham Carnival 2021, but to look to the future, and plan Melksham Carnival 2022.
“As a committee, we want to wish you all the ability to cope, to help each other, and stay as safe as you possibly can, in this unusually stressful time.”
“Here at Melksham Carnival, we are desperately trying to think positively, and remember all the wonderful events, which we have organised and been part of, in the past. If you have any fond memories of carnival day, or our other events, please share them with us.”

Cancellation of Melksham’s carnival, follows the news that Party in the Park has also been postponed until 2022.
