MELKSHAM reigning Carnival Queen, Cara Wallace, has donated her carnival gown to Wiltshire Mind to help support their on-going work.
The dress (pictured) was supplied by Belle of the Ball Bridals and served Cara well during her reign over the last year. However, as her reign comes to an end, Cara decided to donate it to Wiltshire Mind to help continue their work in supporting those who suffer with mental health.
Cara said, “I myself have suffered from issues relating to mental health and truly understand the importance of the support charities like Wiltshire Mind give to those who are suffering.
“I therefore decided to donate my gown to help them raise money to allow them to continue their work for those who rely on their services.”
Bev Harris, charity shop manager for the Melksham branch of Wiltshire Mind said, “We are really grateful to Cara for donating to Wiltshire Mind. It is a non-funded organisation that benefits from the help of local people.
“Cara is a lovely lady, and we rely on people like Cara to help keep our charity going. We are looking to get the dress dry-cleaned so we can auction it off on Ebay and hopefully make some money. If there are any volunteers to offer to get the dress dry-cleaned, we would be very grateful.
“If anyone else is looking to fundraise for Wiltshire Mind in an event such as a bake sale, please get in contact with us on 01225 704985 and we can do what we can to help you.”
