The search for Melksham’s next Carnival Royalty has begun as applications open ahead of a special selection day on Sunday 22nd March.
Anyone wishing to apply must complete an entry form including an ‘about me’ page, which will make up 25% of the overall score. Winners will receive a sash and crown to keep and will attend community events and carnival duties throughout the year.
The winners will be chosen at the annual selection event at Melksham Assembly Hall on 22nd March.
On the day there will also be a ‘cuddlies competition’, with categories including best home-made cuddly toy and most magical. People of all ages can bring their cuddly toys along to be judged, with certificates and rosettes awarded. The event will also see the return of the Carnival Cake Off, with categories including Chocolate Heaven and Best Decorated Cupcakes. Certificates and rosettes will also be awarded.
“There really is something for everyone,” said one of the organisers, Beth Dark.
Entry forms are available to print from the Melksham Carnival Facebook page. Completed forms are to be returned to the town hall.
