This weekend, join the Melksham Lions for a fun-filled Picnic in the Park as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations. Head over to King George V Park on Saturday 14th September, for a free community event where you can bring your own picnic or enjoy refreshments from Evie’s Kitchen, which will be open throughout the day.
The event promises entertainment for all ages, including a disco, donkey rides, fairground attractions, a dog show and a baby show. Families can enjoy a classic Punch and Judy performance, watch Morris Dancers and meet special guests like Peppa Pig, Marshall from Paw Patrol, and even a Minion. It will also be the last chance to enjoy the splash pad for the summer (weather permitting!).
To mark the anniversary, Melksham Lions have been running a Spot the Golden Lion competition in local shops and will also host a 50th Charter evening in October.
“We are supporting five charities through our three golden anniversary events,” said Paul Carter, a member of Melksham Lions. “These include Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, Freewheelers (blood bikes), Julia’s House Hospice and Wiltshire Mind.
“The Picnic in the Park is to thank the people of Melksham for supporting Melksham Lions over the last 50 years and to promote what we do and show we are still relevant today,” Paul added.
