A CHARITY supporting the wellbeing of older isolated people is encouraging the community to take part in Wiltshire Council’s public transport consultation that runs until 10th November.
Celebrating Age Wiltshire has said this could be an opportunity for older people in Melksham to have their say about the future of bus services and public transport in the county.
The public comments will be used to inform Wiltshire Council’s draft Public Transport Policy that the authority says aims to support public transport and will help achieve the council’s environmental, social and economic goals.
Celebrating Age Wiltshire is a county-wide project that delivers events and activities in community settings to support the wellbeing of older, isolated people.
Rebecca Seymour, creative producer at Celebrating Age Wiltshire commented: “When you can’t drive anymore, it changes your whole life as you are much more reliant on public transport. This is why this consultation is so important for older people and hearing their views on local transport, as it is key to being able to still get out and about, live a rich and full life and avoid becoming isolated.”
