CHILDREN at Bowerhill Pre-School took part in a sponsored book hunt this month to raise funds for a new reading den at the school.
The book hunt took place around Bowerhill on Monday 29th April and lasted for about an hour.
“We had huge support from our lovely parents and all the children absolutely loved searching for their favourite books. The children all walked so beautifully, chatting about the books along the way,” said pre-school manager, Christine Paradise Saunders.
“At Bowerhill Pre-School, we promote the love of reading and sharing books, and we would love to provide an outside area so our children can share and enjoy books in the garden in all weather conditions.
“The reading den will have many benefits for the children. Reading books with children provides them with many building blocks for important development throughout life. Books spark imagination, expand their vocabulary and encourage them to think. An early love of books from a young age helps promote cognitive development, later academic successes, enhanced communication and self-confidence.”
The aim of the book hunt is to raise £1,000 for the reading den and so far, the pre-school has raised around £400.
